Life Saving Hero - Automated External Defibrillator
1. Automated External Defibrillator Definition & Its History
The origin of electric shock defibrillation can be traced back to the 18th century. As early as 1775, the Danish physician Abildgaard described a series of experiments. The development of practical defibrillators began in the 1920s. In the 1960s, Lawn and his colleagues worked to demonstrate the superiority and safety of direct current over alternating current in defibrillation techniques. With the continuous development and improvement of AED technology, the performance such as being cumbersome and inconvenient to use has been significantly improved. The recent development of AED uses low-energy biphasic wave technology, which is smaller, lighter, cheaper and easier to use.
Automatic external defibrillator, also known as automatic external shock, automatic shock, automatic defibrillator, cardiac defibrillator and fool shock. Automated external defibrillator AED is a portable medical device that can diagnose specific arrhythmias and give electric shocks. Defibrillation is a medical device that can be used by non-professionals to rescue patients in cardiac arrest.
In the event of cardiac arrest, only defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation with an automated external defibrillator (AED) within the "golden 4 minutes" of the best rescue time is the most effective way to prevent sudden death.
2. The Current Market Trends for Automated External Defibrillator
The popularity of AEDs reflects the importance attached to cardiac first aid in cities, regions and countries, as well as the level of civilization development in the region and country, which is of milestone significance to the process of social civilization. At present, AEDs have a considerable installed scale and population coverage in developed regions such as Europe and the United States: the annual sales of AEDs in the United States exceed 200,000 units, and about 2,400,000 AEDs are placed in public places for public use. Looking at the Asian region, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and other countries have made great efforts in this area and have made considerable achievements. Japan's AED coverage rate is comparable to that of European and American countries.
Automatic external defibrillator AED is recognized as the most timely and effective safety, reliable and timely life-saving device used by the public in various occasions. Overall, the market size of the global automated external defibrillator industry continues to rise. From 2018 to 2021, the market size of the global automated external defibrillator industry will increase from US$1.476 billion to about US$1.9 billion.
According to high blood pressure data provided by the World Health Organization, approximately 1.28 billion adults in the 30-79 age group worldwide have high blood pressure by 2021. High blood pressure can cause damage to the heart muscle, which increases the chance of cardiac arrest. The increase in the hypertensive population will drive the demand for automated external defibrillators due to the increased likelihood of cardiac arrest in hypertensive patients. The global automated external defibrillator market size is expected to reach USD 3.2 billion by 2027.

5. Warm Notice for Automated External Defibrillator AED
I. AED can reach 200 joules of energy in an instant. During the process of rescuing the patient, please stay away from the patient immediately after pressing the power button, and warn anyone around you not to touch the patient.
II. The patient cannot use the AED in water. If the patient has sweat in the chest, they need to quickly dry the chest, because the water will reduce the efficacy of the AED.
III. If the patient does not have any vital signs (no breathing and heartbeat) after using the AED, he needs to be sent to the hospital for treatment immediately.
