Non-Skirted Plates: Lack surrounding plastic panels. They are highly flexible, economical, can be easily cut into smaller segments, and fit most standard standalone thermal cyclers, but are not suitable for robotic automation.
Semi-Skirted Plates: Feature a short perimeter skirt that provides excellent structural rigidity, reducing thermal warping. They offer convenient alphanumeric labeling space and are compatible with most multi-channel pipettes and automated handlers.
Fully Skirted Plates: Enclosed by a full-height rigid perimeter. They offer maximum structural stability, making them the industry standard for high-throughput screening (HTS) and seamless integration with robotic gripping arms and liquid handling workstations.

Standard Profile (0.2 mL) Wells: The traditional height standard. They are ideal for typical reaction volumes ranging between 20 μL and 100 μL, fitting standard thermal cycler blocks.
Low Profile (0.1 mL) Wells: Reduced well height minimizes the dead space "headspace" above the liquid. This significantly reduces evaporation, enhances thermal transfer efficiency, and is optimal for low-volume reactions (less than 20 μL) or fast PCR protocols.

White PCR Plates: Significantly enhance signal-to-noise ratios by reflecting fluorescence back up toward the optical detector. They block well-to-well cross-talk and prevent excitation light from passing through to the thermal block, yielding significantly more uniform and reproducible Cq values.
Clear PCR Plates: Best suited for standard end-point PCR where final colorimetric or gel electrophoresis evaluation is performed, or for thermal cyclers that capture optical readings from the bottom.
